The Bush Administration is giving states more time to adopt uniform driver's licenses.
A law passed in 2005 requires all states to bring their driver's licenses under a national standard and link their record-keeping systems by May 2008.
It was passed in response to the September, 11th terrorist attacks.
But lawmakers have been pressuring the Bush Administration for more time.
It was announced Thursday that states requesting an extension will now have until the end of 2009 to meet uniform standards.
