February is black history month.
To help celebrate, Wilson Primary students got a special lesson Tuesday from a few local stars.
Athletes from Notre Dame stopped by to talk with the kids.
Notre Dame basketball player Breona Gray shared some of her personal experiences and encouraged students to never give up on their dreams.
Gray said, “When I was in grade school I never really thought about sports or anything like that. We had guest speakers and I listened to them, but I didn't know the importance of it. And I want to come back and let them know that there is importance with academics, playing sports, and even celebrating black history month.”
Football star Ambrose Wooden and former Irish basketball player Herald Swanagan also took part in the morning's assembly sharing stories with kids.
