Congressman Joe Donnelly weighed in today on the conditions for outpatient soldiers at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
Donnelly says the hospital is second to none, but the outpatient living conditions are completely unacceptable.
Donnelly says the peeling paint, mold, cockroaches and other problems are a bipartisan issue.
He says he will call for hearings on the veterans and house armed services committees. “I had a fella come up to me on the street yesterday and he said Joe I'll tell you one thing if the generals were living in building 18 it wouldn't look like that. “So that's the message I am taking back, that these conditions are unacceptable we're not going to permit it, and we're going to begin working immediately to correct it.”
Donnelly says he will personally visit the buildings to see conditions first hand.
He says if the department of the army does not plan to fix the problems there Congress will.
