"You can always come home."
That is the message the Fort Wayne-South Bend diocese is trying to get out.
The Catholic Church has four, 30 second television commercials asking Catholics who have fallen away from the church to come back.
The new campaign began last Wednesday and lasts through lent.
Dozens of billboards are now lining highways from Fort Wayne to South Bend.
The church is trying to reach out to non-members, but are also focusing on those who formally called themselves Catholic. Bishop John D'arcy of the Fort Wayne, South Bend Diocese says, “We find over the years that people really want to return to the practice of their faith, but Catholics are not good at asking people to return.”
This new campaign celebrates an important anniversary for the diocese.
It was founded 150 years ago.
