An Elkhart construction project will provide new homes for senior citizens.
Local leaders picked up their shovels Friday to break ground on a new apartment building.
"Watertower Place" will hold 52-one, two, and three bedroom apartments.
Officials say it is the perfect place for independent seniors.
David Young of the Elkhart Housing Partnership stated, “More of those individuals are looking for apartments that will allow them to live their independent lifestyle, but have someone else taking care of the unit and that's what this building will do"
Plans show what the complex will look like when it is finished.
"Watertower Place" construction is expected to be done by December.
