South Bend Clinic Expansion Project

Put down those ribbon cutting scissors and pick up a shovel.

Thursday afternoon, the South Bend Clinic held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new expansion project.

The 36 million dollar project will be the largest in the clinic's history.

When it is complete, the main campus will have double the space it has now. “We're adding, over the next five years, about another 30 doctors to this campus. On top of that, we're expanding some of our diagnostic services, especially our surgery center,” explains Clinic Executive Director, Paul Meyer. “We're here part of the northeast neighborhood. We're excited about being part of the redevelopment, revitalization of the northeast neighborhood. And we're kind of the eastern gateway to downtown.”

Mayor Steve Luecke and Congressman Joe Donnelly joined in on the ceremony this afternoon to celebrate the growth of a clinic that has served the downtown area for 91 years.
