Roseland Trial Goes on the Road

The Rumble in Roseland may have quieted in recent weeks, but Wednesday morning, the rumblings began again.

Roseland City Councilman David Snyder appeared in court today.

Prosecutors say Snyder beat up fellow councilman Ted Penn at a Roseland redevelopment commission meeting last month.

Snyder says he cannot get a fair trial in Saint Joseph County, because of pretrial publicity.

So, the judge gave the defense 30 days to formally ask that the trial to be moved to another county. “They're allegations. They're the typical spin that you get from Roseland, Indiana right now. It's been going on for about two and half years, as I try to gain a seat on the town council,” David Snyder says.

Council Man, Ted Penn remarks, “Once they get all the facts and figures and all the photographs, if he's not guilty there's not justice in this country. It's ridiculous. “He wants to have a change of venue.”

David Snyder faces battery and felony intimidation charges.

If he is convicted, he could spend up to four years in jail.
