Pump Delivers Chemo Directly to Liver

Each year, more than 150,000 Americans will be told they have colon cancer.

Many will have that cancer spread to their liver.

Jeff Campbell is in remission from stage four colon cancer that spread to his liver.

In fact, stage four cancer has a mere 8% survival rate, especially when it spreads to the liver.

With standard chemotherapy, drugs travel through the entire body.

Just 25% of the drug makes it to the liver.

Doctors treated Jeff with this a pump that sends chemo directly into the liver. "All 100 percent of that drug will be seen by the tumor in the liver," explains Surgical Oncologist, Dr. Mark Roth.

The pump is implanted into the abdomen and powered by body heat.

It pumps cancer killing drugs into the liver 24/7, and can stay in for months or years at a time.
