Car Hits House

An Osceola family faced a rude awakening Sunday morning when a car hit the side of their house.

The family believes heavy snow in their yard slowed down a car about to slam into the children’s bedroom.

The Dewinter family is thankful that it is winter because the snow may have saved the youngest members life.

Early Sunday morning parents Aaron and Merri awoke to a loud noise. Aaron Dewinter ran outside to find a car in his front yard.

Witnesses told the family that instead of stopping at a stop sign the car stopped when it hit their house. The car hit the side of the house near where the Dewinter’s two boys sleep.

“We saw a car with two ladies that were out of it and he yelled out hey are you okay and they said we are not hurt but somebody hit your house!” recalls Merri when her husband was outside.

The Dewinters called the police. Aaron took pictures for proof when the alleged drunk driver tried to back the car out and flee.

The Dewinters say they are just thankful the boys were not hurt.

No word yet on whether or not the driver faces any criminal charges.

Meanwhile the family will talk with the landlord about the repairs that need to be made.
