After a delay yesterday because of the heavy snow a South Bend murder trial got underway today.
Kevin martin is charged shooting and killing his girlfriend Pearlie Dickerson in July.
It happened at the courtyard place apartments on Jefferson.
Police say Martin shot Dickerson several times in front of her children.
Lawyers for both sides read their opening statements today.
The prosecution also called several witnesses to the stand, including a pathologist, and several police officers and the trial will resume again tomorrow morning.
