It may soon be illegal to smoke in a car that has anyone under the age of 13 in it.
An Indiana House Committee endorsed the second hand smoking bill Tuesday.
Under the bill, police could not pull someone over, solely because they were smoking with kids in the car.
Instead, the initial stop would have to be based on another offense, such as speeding.
The proposed smoking ban carries a $25 fine for the first offense and $100 for subsequent violations.
