Most golf courses are buried by snow right now, but that did not stop golfers from hitting the links of a different kind Saturday.
Parts of Simonton Lake near Elkhart were cleared for an ice golf tournament.
More than 100 people registered for the event.
Golfers swung at tennis balls, and wore spiked boots.
The mood was light, but some participants told us the competition was fierce.
“We have to come over the top and win it today no matter what it takes,” says Scott Sawyer, golfer.
“As long as we’ve got enough ice, we'll do it every year, and its mainly just to get out on the ice and enjoy the winter,” explains Cam Snyder, owner of Lakeshore Grill.
The tournament champion won the use of a pontoon boat for one week.
