A Mishawaka Library Celebrates 100 Years

The Mishawaka Penn-Harris Public Library is celebrating its 100th birthday and, the party lasts all year long.

Each month in 2007, library officials say they are celebrating a different decade.

For example, in February, they are remembering the 1920s by hosting some jazz music events.

Staff members say the yearlong celebration has them looking to the past, but also thinking about the future.

"Then also focusing on our part on educating the public and providing recreational reading and enjoyment that can benefit you in the future in any number of ways," explains Victoria Gutschenritter, Mishawaka Penn-Harris Library.

The library opened its doors way back on September 13, 1907.

You can find a full list of the library's centennial events at the Mishawaka Penn-Harris Public Library's website.
