Indiana House Democrats have abandoned their plan to eliminate the state's gas sales tax, but not completely.
They say totally eliminating the tax would cost the state too much revenue.
Now House Democrats are pushing for a tax cap.
They want to stop taxing once gas hits $2.25 per gallon.
That means no matter how high the price of gas goes, the most the state will ever make off it is 6% of $2.25.
That is about 14 cents per gallon.
