Michigan Tech's annual winter carnival would not be complete without its fabulous ice statues.
Despite harsh weather conditions, some students spent days carving out chunks of ice.
They made everything from castles to elephants.
The carving period is over and the judges will soon determine who gets top honors.
The statues are judged on ten different criteria including: artistic value, intricacy, time, and effort.
Winners will be announced Saturday.
