The frigid temperatures are not just uncomfortable. They can also do a number on your car.
Business at Ricks 66 in South Bend has really been picking up over the past couple of days.
Workers say all five of their tow trucks have been out on the streets.
So what can you do to protect your car?
Ricks 66 offers these suggestions: "The most important thing is to try to keep the car anything from freezing on it; the gas, the coolant, anything like that," explains Sean Dulcet, Rick’s 66. "I would let your car warm up, you don't want to hop in a cold car, start it, and take off.”
Another helpful tip: make sure to clean off the packed snow on your car. Mechanics say if it builds up and then falls off, it can cause damage to the bottom of your vehicle.
