Most Michiana school districts were on the "same page" Monday, deciding it was just too cool to hold school.
Student safety was the big concern, in light of wind chills that were both sub-zero, and double digit.
A student at South Bend’s Washington High School spent much of the day at the mall, saying his normal ten block walk to school, would have turned him into an ice block.
According to Elkhart Superintendent Mark Mow, the concern was not limited to students who walk to school.
He worried about the cold causing mechanical problems for busses, and the potential impact on the students waiting for a ride.
Mow said a Wind Chill Warning issued for the area was set to expire on Tuesday afternoon.
Mow hoped that classes would be able to resume on Wednesday.
