Notre Dame Students Brave the Cold for a Good Cause

On a day like this, it is hard to imagine wearing flip-flops.

But that is exactly what a group of Notre Dame students did Thursday morning; all for a good cause.

The "Day of Man" event gave students at Siegfried Hall a chance to raise awareness and donations for homeless in the area.

The students had to "man up" and face the frigid temperatures by attending classes in t-shirts, shorts, and flip-flops.

Siegfried Hall President Tom Martin said, “The homeless are kind of the target, the target people that we would like to help out with this, ya know, having to endure the cold all of the time.”

Martin added, “The feet I think are the worst part. Especially because a lot of sidewalks are not fully plowed so we are having to walk through slush and everything.”

The students raised $3,500 for the South Bend Center for the Homeless.
