Indiana Senate Passes HPV Vaccination Bill

Video will be available shortly.

A watered-down version of the HPV vaccination bill passed Wednesday in the Indiana Senate.

HPV is a sexually transmitted disease that can cause cervical cancer.

The bill allows girls entering the sixth grade to be vaccinated for the virus.

However, the new version requires schools to send home information about the link between the human papillomavirus and cervical cancer, plus tell parents a vaccine is available.

The amended version pleases some opponents, who wanted parents to have more of a choice in whether their child is vaccinated.
