Babies born naturally may be at a higher risk for brain bleeds than babies born by caesarian section.
Doctors came across the finding by accident.
They were using a high-powered MRI to analyze newborn brains when they made the discovery.
17 of the 88 infants they studied had the bleeds.
All were delivered vaginally.
Now thankfully, all were given a clean bill of health.
Dr. John Gilmore, a researcher/psychiatrist, stated, “It was a very common finding. 25% of babies born had intracranial hemorrhages or these bleeds in and around the brain after they were born.”
Now researchers acknowledge this news may make parents of newborns a bit nervous.
But right now they say there is not cause for concern.
They are going to follow all the kids in the study to make sure they have no further brain problems.
Doctors also point out babies have been born vaginally since the beginning of time, and this brain problem has only just been discovered.
