South Bend Working Non-Stop to Clear Roadways

You could not help but see the dozens of plows that were working overtime Monday morning on your way to work.

Over the last 36-hours snow plows and crews have been working non-stop in and around South Bend helping people dig out from the blanket of snow.

In South Bend alone, more than 50 plows were out overnight clearing the streets.

Street officials urge people to be careful when passing plows.

They also ask you to park in driveways, not on the street, when it snows.

Considering the timing of the snowfall, it could have been worse if it was a mid week event.

Sgt. Bill Kraus of the South Bend Police Department stated, “Yesterday they also had to contend with the wind which caused a lot of drifting especially on north south roads. That really causes a problem, they go through and the wind blows it right back to where it was.”

Most plow drivers we talked to say they have been working 12-14 hour shifts over the last few days.
