Puppy Found on Highway

An officer opened a trash bag left on the side of the road and found a floppy-eared surprise.

Tippy, an eight week old puppy was tied in a trash bag, and left on Crumstown Highway, west of South Bend, on Sunday.

At this point, the St. Joseph County Humane Society says there are no leads or clues as to who left Tippy in the road.

Betty Rutkowski of the Humane Society said, "County PD had gotten their first, got her out and warmed her up in their squad cars until we got their to pick her up."

"A lot of people discard animals just like the trash. Obviously, they do not realize that these are living beings that need attention and need care," Rutkowski added.

If you have any information about the pup, you are asked to call the St. Joseph County Humane Society or police.
