Jerry White made his appearance in court just four days after an Elkhart mother and her four children were abducted.
White faces charges of taking the family hostage as well as shooting a man.
He's accused of breaking into Kimberly Walker's home, holding the family hostage and shooting the boyfriend of Walker's sister, 30-year old Lathie Turnage.
The four day search for the family came to an end Tuesday night at the Sleepy Hollow Motel in Elkhart.
The Walker family was taken to police headquarters while detectives questioned White about the abduction.
This morning, White was charged with one count of attempted murder and 7 counts of criminal confinement.
If he receives the maximum, he could be sentenced to 154 years in prison.
White's trial date is November 26th, and his bond is set at a half a million dollars.
