Learning May Delay Alzheimer's

The more you learn, the longer your brain can fight off Alzheimer’s.

Researchers took a group of mice designed to develop the disease and taught them how to swim.

They found those who took swimming lessons regularly were less likely to have plaques and tangles associated with Alzheimer’s.

However, the benefit did not last.

Once the mice reached 15 months, their brains degenerated to the same level as mice that did not learn to swim.

Researchers say this shows learning can delay the symptoms of the disease, but it cannot prevent it completely.
