Princess City Mayoral Candidate Announced

The field of candidates hoping to lead the princess city keeps growing.

This morning, democrat Mike Hayes officially filed to run for mayor of Mishawaka.

Hayes says he is highly qualified for the office, having served the public his entire life.

He was a Mishawaka firefighter for 20 years and served on the city council in the 1990's.

For the past eight years, Hayes has been a Penn township trustee.

"I think it's going to take hard work and a lot of hours to accomplish it, I don't necessarily look at it as an uphill battle, I think we're really on a level playing ground, and we're just going to work hard," says Hayes.

Hayes joins three other candidates in the Mishawaka mayor's race including incumbent Jeff Rea, state representative Craig Fry and Dona Hall.
