Local Marine Killed in Iraq
A local marine has been killed in Iraq.
The Pentagon says 20-year old Lance Corporal Luis Castillo died Saturday from injuries he received during combat.
Castillo is from Lawton in Van Buren County and a 2004 graduate of Mattawan High School.
This was Castillo's first tour of duty in Iraq.
He would have been stationed there since September.
His family says he joined the Marines to save money for college and hoped to become a police officer.
