It may soon cost more for a pack of cigarettes in Indiana.
A new poll finds 62% of registered voters support increasing the state's cigarette tax a dollar per pack, but only if money is used to fund health and anti-smoking programs.
Governor Daniels asked lawmakers to increase the cigarette tax by at least 25 cents.
The additional state revenue would go towards health insurance for low-income Hoosiers and immunizations for children.
The current cigarette tax in Indiana is 55 1/2 cents per pack.
