A new study shows radiation treatments are a very important part of treating breast cancer in women older than 65.
The study out of Wake Forrest found the chances of a tumor coming back are up to three and a half times more likely if a woman does not get radiation.
It is important information considering women over 65 are more likely to get breast cancer but less likely to get traditional therapy, including radiation.
The study also showed women who use the drug tamoxifen for less than a year were more likely to get cancer again than women who took the drug for its recommended five-year course.
