An Elkhart man says his identity has been stolen, and it can be traced back to purchases made at Mishawaka's TJ Maxx.
Brendon Eash says he was lucky.
He says First State Bank of Goshen contacted him, after noticing some strange activity on his account.
Eash was able to link the transactions back to cards that he had used at T.J. Maxx.
Earlier this week, NewsCenter 16 reported the parent company of TJ Maxx and Marshall's said someone hacked into its computer system leaving millions of customers open to the possibility of having their account information stolen.
Eash says he and his wife had to close all of their accounts at the bank, and will keep an eye on all statements they get from now on. “The bank kind of said that it was something to the effect of information had been stolen, and really that was all we knew about it. So since then, we've been monitoring our credit report and trying to make sure everything is secure from here on out.”
Eash says he had used plastic and checks to make payment at TJ Maxx.
Purchases by credit card, debit card, or by check, as well as return transactions could be affected by the security breach.
