Mishawaka Police are looking into a B B gun shooting at a school bus that happened late Thursday afternoon.
A handful of children were on board when the bus driver heard the shots and drove the bus to safety.
Ilsa Luna says she was waiting for her four-year old sister Naomi to get off the bus when the shooting happened.
She was told by the bus driver to get on the bus for safety purposes.
“I was just walking to the bus and the bus lady said come on because we have some trouble here,” says Luna.
The bus driver says she was dropping children off in the back of the apartment complex when she heard the gunshots.
She drove the bus to the front office and called police.
Police found two holes from a B B gun in a single window on the driver’s side but no witnesses or suspects yet.
The bus driver says five children from South Bend School's Head Start Program were on board.
No one was sitting in the seat where the window was hit. No one was injured.
The shooting is still a scary thought for many parents though since a child could have been hurt.
“I tell her that my sister was okay but she was confused too… because she was say somebody was shooting at the window what's that? Why in the bus... I don't know,” concludes Luna referring a conversation with her mother.
Police and passengers are crediting the bus driver for staying calm and doing the right thing during this entire incident.
She made sure everyone on the bus was okay and drove it to a safe place right away.
