The falling temperatures have raised hopes at the St. Joseph County Parks.
Parks hope that the inner-tubing hills will soon open for the first time since December of 2005.
Snow making machines were going full blast at St. Pat's Park Tuesday.
We are told the same was true at Ferrettie Baugo.
The park staff is eager to make up for lost time.
“The snow guns are running at St. Pat's County Park today with the sun out, and being in the 20s. For the temperatures, it's marginal, but we're keeping our fingers crossed that our inner-tubing hill will be able to be open this weekend; [that’s] what we're shooting for,” explains Evie Kirkwood with the St. Joseph County Parks.
A natural snow base of some eight inches of snow is needed before the parks cross country skiing trails can open.
