Beating Winter Germs

None of us want to spend part of the winter fighting the sniffles, or even worse, the aches: pains and downright miserable feelings of the flu.

Doctors say the best way to avoid winter germs is simple.

The first thing you should do is make sure to wash your hands at home and at work.

Now, if you or your child gets a nasty cold and it just will not go away, there is usually a simple explanation, especially when it comes to kids.

“I often see that children will get multiple infections back to back, especially when they're exposed to a lot of other children. And so one illness is actually two or even three illnesses and just as they're starting to get better, they're catching yet another cold,” explains Pediatrician Dr. Tara Greenhow.

If you are wondering if there are more people suffering from colds or the flu this winter than in the past the answer is no. Doctors say this is an average year.
