New Hotel in Roseland?

Tuesday appears to have marked the beginning of the end for Roseland’s latest hotel development proposal.

Plans call for a three story hotel to be built in the middle of what is now a residential neighborhood off Cleveland Road, east of State Road 933.

The plan had the support of Roseland's town council when David and Dorothy Snyder were in charge.

Tuesday brought word that the new town council plans to reconsider the proposal, perhaps as early as this week.

“The citizens don't want it; the citizens are the authority not the town council. I will do what the citizen’s want. They made it very plain they do not want the hotel there, and so therefore my decision is already made for me,” explains Ted Penn, Roseland Town Council.

Tuesday, the Area Plan Commission reaffirmed its previously expressed opinion that the hotel project is too intense for the neighborhood off Cleveland.
