Tucked away below Mishawaka's 100 Center is Giannetto's Pizza. A staircase leads you to this little Italian hideaway that's been here for nearly 8 years. Vic Giannetto and his wife Donna own the unique restaurant that's known all over for it's stuffed pizza.
Even below the basement lies yet another room for dining. It's a former cellar from decades ago where wood was burned to make coal; all adding to the atmosphere of a cozy Italian Pizzeria that’s complete with extremely low ceilings so watch your head.
In the kitchen, which is below the main dining room, Vic and I get to work. We're making a “works” pizza and it takes just that to make this famous pie. Vic and Donna's daughter, Vitoria, lends a hand. Their other children work here as well. Keep in mind, Giannetto's is not just a pizza place.
Last but not least, a paper thin layer of crust is added on top of the pizza and into the oven it goes for about 25 minutes. The delicious smell is intoxicating.
If you like pizza, especially deep dish, this is definitely the place for you! Who needs Chicago when we have Gianetto's right in our own backyard!
