The Hunter Ice Festival is underway in Niles and there is a lot to do for the entire family!
If you watched 16 Saturday Morning this week... you saw one of the favorites... the ice carving contests.
The festival gets it's name from the Hunter family, who settled near Barron Lake way back in 1898.
The family became well known in Southwest Michigan... starting-up an ice harvesting business and later... an ice cream making business.
"This is a great family event, to bring the whole family to, simply because, most of the things you can come and do today, are free of charge. That's rare these days,” says Chickie Landgraf, who helps organize the festival.
The hunter ice festival continues through this afternoon in downtown Niles.
