The climb to college just keeps getting steeper for American students.
For the 2006 to 2007 academic year, experts say the average cost of tuition, room, and board at a public university was nearly $13,000.
And, according to the College Board, the average cost of in-state tuition and fees at a public institution has jumped a whopping 35% in the past five years.
