Running is a great way to burn off extra holiday calories, even if it's cold outside.
Veteran marathoner, Jeff Galloway runs year round.
The secret is layering.
Instead of having one thick layer, where it is all or nothing, use several thin shirts.
That way you can peel off the excess layer, when you get hot.
And just because it is cooler outside, does not mean you do not need plenty of water. “During the cooler temperatures there's less sweating and therefore less need or less thirst for drinking lots of fluid. But you need to make sure that you're rehydrating afterwards,” Jeff explains.
Doctors also say it is important to keep your hands and head covered.
You lose 70 to 75 percent of your body heat through the top of your head.
