Folate Could Reduce Alzheimer’s Risk

The results of a new study say the more folate you have in your system; the less likely you are to get the debilitating disease.

Researchers followed close to 1,000 elderly people for an average of six years.

They found those who had the most folate, whether through supplements or diet, were less likely to get Alzheimer’s.

Folate is found in leafy green vegetables, fruit, and dried beans.

Researchers think folate may lower levels of amino acid in the blood that can increase your risk for Alzheimer’s.

The next step for folate is clinical tests, before doctors can routinely recommend it.
