The State of Indiana and the ACLU have settled a lawsuit over a scholarship program that denied eligibility to a former Elkhart County High School student.
The lawsuit was filed last March.
The student was born in the US, but her parents were in the country illegally.
According to our reporting partners at The Truth, the State will no longer require parents to be US citizens or legal aliens for their children to receive aid.
Indiana's 21st Century Scholarship Program helps students from low income families pay for college.
It is intended to reduce the number of high-school dropouts and increase the number of Hoosier students going to college.
