Sturgis Man Dies in Single Vehicle Accident

A Sturgis man is dead after a single-van accident on State Road 15, just south of Bristol.

It happened Friday morning around 11AM near County Road 14.

Elkhart County Police say 42-year-old Joel Carpenter was traveling northbound on State Road 15.

Police say he took a curve too fast, skidded out of control, and hit a tree.

Carpenter had a blood alcohol level of .20.
