It isn’t easy to quit smoking, but smokers are getting some help from a most unusual place.
A company in Texas has a new product called Nic Lite. It’s drinking water with a lemon twist and each eight ounce bottle is the equivalent of two cigarettes.
One year ago, a California based company named Nico Worlwide was searching for someone to bottle a product called Nic Lite.
That is where Roy Parsons and Custom Label Water in Clyde come in.
Right now, they are manufacturing 3000 cases a month.
“It should double or triple in the next 12 months,” says Parsons.
Custom Label Water is able to make the water in 1000 gallon batches with extreme precision.
“We have metering equipment that goes down to a hundredth of a gallon and everybody else is either trying to inject it or just use a huge tank and just guess at it,” explains Parsons. “I can see it as a growing product, especially with the smoking bans, all over the country.”
Users say the taste is like regular water with just a little tang to it, like the Nicorette gum would have.
Right now, the product is only sold in Georgia and California, but can be purchased online and with success will come more availability.
A six pack of Nic Lite costs about $22 dollars. A case of 24 is about $50.
Right now, the nicotine water is only available online.
