Study Focuses on Pregnancies for Underweight Women

Video will be available shortly.

There is new hope for pregnant women who are underweight.

The study found underweight women who took multivitamins during the course of their pregnancy were less likely to give birth to low weight babies.

Researches studied over 200 women who were pregnant and underweight.

Half of the women received a multivitamin that contained 29 vitamins and minerals, the other half received placebo pills that contained only calcium.

Researchers discovered the rate of low birth-weight was 40% in the placebo group, but only 15% in the nutrient group.

Researchers also found the nutrient group was less likely to lose their child in the first four days of birth.
