Treating Home-Sickness

Going away to camp, a stay in the hospital or a vacation at grandma's…

Most kids get homesick at one time or another, but researchers say the condition is preventable and treatable.

According to a new study, the intensity of homesickness for first-time campers was lowered by half if their parents talked about the separation ahead of time.

Researchers say parents need to be careful.

Try not to make comments that express anxiety.

Doctors also say kids who take medication for attention or behavior problems should continue to take their medicine while they are gone.
