The US government is expected to join the produce industry in making greens like spinach and lettuce safe for consumers.
New industry guidelines are due in April to be sure no contamination occurs from the time of planting to the time you put them on your plate.
But, some congress members now want federal agencies to become involved.
This comes after hundreds of people got sick this fall after eating e-coli tainted spinach and lettuce.
