New Year's Resolutions

It seems ringing in the New Year puts a workout craze into motion.

That's why several area fitness clubs are offering deals this January to persuade customers to sign up at their facility.

Cardinal Fitness in South Bend is cutting the joining fees in half for the month of January.

Pinnacle Athletic Club in Mishawaka is offering a Aerobi-thon on January 6th. It will allow an entire morning of free aerobic classes.

Experts say most people who set a New Year's resolutions to work out more taper off in February.

Studies show people will set goals that are life changing and can’t be done in one year.

That's why it's important to set small and realistic goals that you can accomplish.

“I think they get bored with after a while. I think they need a variety. I used to get tired of it. I've done aerobics, yoga, different things, to mix it up but I think that's the key to giving variety and challenges,” says Mike Katz who plans to work out this year.

“Working with a personal trainer… they can teach you different ways to work out different ideas and just doing what you can do to vary your routine to try to mix it up every six weeks,” says Pinnacle’s fitness instructor Matt Kruyer.

Another reason resolutions fail?

People make resolutions and expect them not to work... because they think they don't really matter.
