Michigan liquor stores are expecting a steady stream of customers with no alcohol sales across Indiana on this New Year’s Eve.
The parking lot at Oak Dairy Party Store in Niles was filled, even before it opened at noon.
Customers who drove across the state line stood in line for their last minute party needs.
Indiana resident and customer Linda Allbaugh said, “I was surprised, because they opened at 12, so they had to be setting here.”
Another Indiana customer, Reno Jones added, “We were out of town and so I thought since they opened up at 12 that I’d just stop by but as you can see a lot of people beat me.”
Party stores in Niles are open late New Year’s Eve.
J&G and Oak Dairy are open until midnight, and G&K is open until 10PM.
The drink of choice to ring in the New Year?
Sales clerks told us they were selling a lot of beer, and no surprise, champagne.
