Do Not Fax Law

One new law hitting the books in Indiana at the start of the year is a new Do Not Fax Law.

Much like the state's Do Not Call List, it prohibits people from sending unwanted fax ads.

The law allows the Attorney General's Office to fine the violators up to $1500 per violation.

Unlike the Do Not Call List, this one automatically includes everyone in the state without having to sign up.

“What this means is people who can send junk faxes, they're shifting the cost of their advertising campaign, over to the owner of the fax machine. That bought the fax because they want to use it in their home or personal business or they want to use it in their small business,” explains Steve Carter, Attorney General.
