A longtime member of South Bend's City government is stepping down.
Jack Reed has served as the Assistant to the Mayor during Steve Luecke's administration.
He started his work in the Mayor's office in 1988 under then mayor Joe Kernan.
Before heading to the County City building, he served for 28 years on the South Bend Fire Department.
His retirement will become official at the end of this week.
