High School Students Give Back this Holiday Season

If you are looking for a way to give back this season, try donating blood.

That is what several local high school students did Tuesday.

Previous volunteer blood donors from local high schools were invited to give blood again Tuesday night at the South Bend Medical Foundation.

The blood bank is targeting younger people to consider donating.

There is an especially big demand for blood during this time of year.

“When you donate blood, you can donate up to six times a year. If you start out in January, you can donate every 56 days, which equals every other month. So if we get the younger people in, and make donating blood part of their life, part of their civic duty, then we can capture that blood donor for their whole life,” explains Jeanna Pugh with South Bend Medical Foundation.

If you would like to make an appointment to give blood, you can contact the South Bend Medical Foundation's Blood Bank at 574-234-1157.
