Competition for Prescription Prices Results

They bent, but they did not break: Wal-Mart's introduction of $4 dollar generic prescriptions hurt competing drug store chains stock prices, but experts say it did not hurt their bottom lines.

Profits from Rite Aid, Walgreen’s, and CVS all held steady or rose in the quarter ending on November 30th.

Analysts believe Wal-Mart's generic prescriptions have attracted a lot of uninsured customers who cannot afford higher priced name brand drugs.
